Ancillary Income for Our Clients

PowerShift Energy helps clients generate ancillary income for their businesses by identifying applicable Demand Response programs, State and Local Government Rebate Programs, Local Utility Rebate Programs and Referral Programs.


Demand Response

  • Demand Response programs are utility-specific programs that allow customers to earn revenue for scaling down their electricity usage during hours when the electric grid is experiencing extensive or peak demand. This normally occurs during the summer months, when there is extensive energy consumption from HVAC systems.
  • PowerShift Energy can assess your facilities’ energy consumption load and patterns to determine if a Demand Response program is appropriate or available.
  • For clients who qualify, we engage our Demand Response experts to customize a solution that best meets our client’s operational requirements.

Rebate Programs (State, Local, Utility-Specific, Referral)

  • Depending on the localities, many state, local or utility sponsored programs exist to incentivize customers to curtail (decrease use) their energy consumption. Curtailment methods may include shutting down operations during specific times of the day when the electric grid is experiencing peak demand stress, or installing energy efficient machinery or lighting retrofits to decrease overall energy usage on a consistent and sustainable level. In exchange, our clients receive tangible financial benefits from these programs.
  • We help our clients identify and qualify for such programs, if available.

  • PowerShift Energy helps clients identify applicable energy solutions that best fit their sustainability needs.
  • For clients who want to “Go Green” or have corporate initiatives to reduce their carbon footprint, we have access to an array of solutions through our network of world class energy suppliers.
  • We’ve helped our clients obtain Green products, such as green power, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and carbon offsets. We’ve also identified LEED Certified solutions, Distributed Energy Resources (DER), and Onsite/Back-up Generation Solutions for our clients as well.

Bill Audits

  • Line items on energy bills are often as confusing as energy contracts.
  • Mistakes can occur in either the line items billed by the supplier, or those passed through to the customer from their local utility.

    Line Items billed by the Energy Supplier: Customers can be charged an incorrect rate that is inconsistent with their energy contract with their supplier, or they can incur extra fees that are not applicable to their meter type or product.

    Line items associated with the Delivery of Energy (Pass-thru costs from the local utility): Mistakes can be made in the calculation of customer’s power factors. These mistakes directly affect the tariff rates charged for the delivery of energy, and they are undetectable on a customer’s energy bill. Rather, these mistakes can only be spotted in the customer’s energy usage file kept by the utility. PowerShift Energy goes that extra mile to access our clients’ usage files. We analyze the cost components that affect the charges, ensuring that you are billed correctly for ALL LINE ITEMS ON YOUR BILL, not just your energy rate from the supplier.

  • We engage with suppliers to help resolve any billing issues.
  • We engage with suppliers to resolve issues related to service flow start dates and end dates.
  • We assist our clients when they need to add new meters or remove meters from their contracts. (As mundane as this may sound, it is still a burdensome process with the suppliers, but PowerShift Energy will handle the process on our clients’ behalf.)
  • We help with service assignments from one meter to another.
  • We help with the contract assignments when there is a transition of business ownership.
